Weekend Results

This weekend in Huntsville was the 3rd Annual Paint the Streets 5km hosted by Team Rocket Tri. The race is a benefit for the United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) foundation’s spinal cord injury research and was created in honor of Carlene Hall who displayed uncommon faith and courage in the face of a debilitating spinal cord injury.

The team was lead by Brad Schroeder who finished 2nd overall and broke the 17-minute mark with a 16:52. Eric Patterson and David Rawlings were first and second place in their age group respectively.

Recent Results

This past weekend was the mid-summer classic Twilight 5km, the only night race hosted by the Huntsville Track Club.  Formerly the Women's Distance Festival 5km and then seperate men's and women's races, this year both men and women competed in the same race.  Temperatures at the start were in the mid 80's with a heat index well into the 90's.  Eric Charette lead the Fleet Feet Racing Team with a 2nd place finish overall, running 17:45.  Helping out by volunteering were Rob and Kathy Youngren, Eric Fritz, James Falcon, Andrew Hodges, Rick Maehlmann, Erik Debolt, Greg Reynolds and Dana Overton.  Katie Maehlmann ran with her 7 year old son Nate who finished 3rd in his age group.

At the 14th Annual Wet Dog Triathlon in Decatur, Greg Reynolds placed 4th overall out of 600, and 1st in hhis age group. The distances were a 400 meter swim, 15k bike and a 5k run. His total time including transitions was 50:18.

Last weekend at the Blossomwood Blizzard 5k, Julia Clark kept up her winning ways as she took another female overall victory and 5th place overall, running 20:11.

Weekend Results

In Silverton Colorado Rob Youngren put forth an amazing performance at Hardrock 100 miler.  His months of specific training for not only the distance but the climbing enabled him to navigate the course and its 67,984' of elevation change in 31 hours, 19 minutes and 30 seconds which placed him 15th overall.  Here are Rob's splits for the race.

At Grandfather Mountain Marathon, Dink Taylor ran 3:11:41 on a very difficult course with plenty of climbing. Dink was 10th place overall!  Dana Overton ran 3:51:45.6 and was 3rd in her age group.

Recent Results

At the  Big 5km starting from Bridge Street in Huntsville Robert Whitaker ran a fast 18:32 which earned him 2nd place overall in a field of 272 runners.

Julia Clark was 4th overall and top female at the Strong Girls 5km with a 19:38, which was just 1 second away from top 3 overall!

At the Morning side Baptist Firecracker 5km on the 4th of July, Tyrone Harris topped a very fast field with a 16:45.  Marty Clarke was top men's master with an 18:29.

Also on the 4th of July, Jim Clemens ran the largest 10km race in the United States, Peach Tree 10km in Atlanta, Georgia.  Jim ran 37:17 and placed 265th overall and 6th in his age group (which had 3,300 people in it!)  Brandon York was 43rd overall in a stellar 31:09 for this difficult road course.



Eric Charette was 4th overall at the age graded Spirit of America 5-miler at Point Mallard in Decatur, Alabama.  Charette's 29:15 actual time was second fastest overall, trailing team mate Tyrone Harris who ran 28:23 (the fastest overall time of the day), but with with the age grading, placed Tyrone 5th overall.

At the Firecracker Chase 10.2 miler in Fayetteville, TN on June 29, Dana Overton was top female and 7th overall with a 1:14:43.   Christy Scott was 2nd female and top female master with a 1:20:51.

At Western States 100, Blake Thompson made a valiant effort but was unsuccessful in finishing the race, retiring early.
