Recent Team Headlines

This past weekend the team traveled to Washington DC to run the Army 10-miler.  The team was lead by Rob Youngren who ran 58:52 (164th overall), followed by Tim Vinson in 1:01:36 (274) and George Heeschen in 1:03:07 (346th).

Locally in Huntsville, Lauren Mitchell lead the team with a state age record at Monte Sano 15k, running 59:50, taking top female honors and finishing 6th overall.  Andrew Hodges and Julia Mateskon each captured 3rd place podium positions, and Marty Clarke won the male masters.  Greg Reynolds (59:00), Todd Parsons (1:04:44), Dave Moulder (1:05:05), Susi Bowermaster (1:06:07), Julie Mason (1:07:06), Kelsey Moser (1:07:16), Kathy Youngren (1:11:15), Linda Scavarda (1:11:16), Donna Palumbo (1:26:59), Aleisha Chaffin (1:27:00) and Christy Scott (1:27:00) also ran.  

Down in Birmingham, Craig Smith continued his strong trail running season with a 2nd place finish at the Ruffner Mountain Crusher Ridge 42km.  Craig ran 4:51:08, which was the 7th fastest time for the course.

In Fort Payne, Alabama, Eric Patterson again competed in the Little River Canyon Half Marathon.  Eric finished 3rd overall on the hill-laden course.

To round out the weekend, Martin Schneekloth and James Clemens participated in the Ragnar Trail Carolinas, each running a few legs before the event was called off due to flooding and adverse weather from Hurricane Matthew.

Last weekend the team was reprsented twice in Tennessee, first lead by Lauren Mitchell and Eric Charette at the Southern Tennessee Power Classic Marathon and Half Marathon.  Lauren was the overall winner in the marathon with a 3:03 and Eric was 2nd overall and first master in the half marathon.

Just east of Winchester, down in Chattanooga was the ever-difficult Stump Jump 50km hosted by Rock/Creek.  Martin Schneekloth represented Fleet Feet Racing by finishing 21st overall.

In early October, Eric Patterson finished 3rd overall at the Apple Annie 5k in Athens with a 19:21.  On the same day, Katie Maehlmann was 1st overall female at the CFA 5k in Madison, Alabama.

Back in late September, Julie Mason was the overall winner of the Santa's Schoolhouse 5k run in Huntsville.  Julie posted a 20:15, and bested the nearest runner by 11 seconds.  Anya Gluszek was 2nd female and 4th overall.

Also on September was the Georgia Jewel 50-miler in Dalton, Georiga.  James Falcon ran the 50-mile distance and posted a 12:34, placing 21st overall.
