Weekend Results

It was a great weekend of running for the Nike Fleet Feet Racing Team of Huntsville!  Starting in Birmingham where Eric Charette lead the team to a 13th place finish in the 10th annual Mercedes Marathon with a time of 2:48:19.  Also breaking the 3 hour mark on this two loop course was Blake Thompson (2:55:34) and Rob Youngren (2:57:29).  Maybe the best performance on the hills was from Kathy Youngren who ran a 3:14:20 to finish 9th overall female and 1st in her age group.  Randy McFarland finished his 10th Mercedes and Joey Butler came in under 8:00 minute pace at 3:29:31.

Locally in Huntsville, team member Linda Scavarda race directed the Winter Winds 2 and 4 mile races.  Donald Bowman captured 2nd place in both races with a 10:53 and 22:42.  Candace Jacobs and Caitlin Morris both set state age records in both races!  Candace ran 11:23 (11:57 old record) and 23:54 (25:54 old record) in the 2 & 4mile and Caitlin ran 11:54 (old record 12:17) and 25:07 (old record 26:10) in the 2 & 4 mile.  Linda mentioned that many team members were out there at Grissom High School to volunteer, including Dink and Suzanne Taylor, Marty Clarke, David Purinton, Rick & Katie Maehlmann, Carl Smith and many others.

In Louisville Kentucky, Josh Kennedy confirmed that Lovin' the Hilsl 50km was indeed one of the most difficult 50km races in the Southeastern USA.  He noted that it was either climbing or dropping the entire time and it was very muddy.
