Brief Biography
I grew up in Rockville, Maryland, just outside of Washington, DC and moved to Huntsville right out of college in 1989. Having never run competitively before, I started running when I was 35 to get more fit and try to increase my stamina for volleyball tournaments. Within 5 years I decided to quit playing volleyball to focus on my running and now have run almost 100 races of all distances from 5K to 100 miles. I have two wonderful daughters that keep me quite busy and a very supportive wife who lets me get a way with much more than I should. I love the outdoors and feel most at home in the woods.
Short Term Goals
My only racing goal for this year is to achieve a silver buckle at the Western States 100. I'm sure I'll push for a PR here or there as well but that is all secondary to the buckle.
Long Term Goals
My long term goals include being fit enough to run the Hardrock 100 mile race as well as finding the time to run "significant distance" on the Appalachian Trail. And, as with every runner I know, the only true long term goal is to have the ability to continue to run for many years to come.

As the president of the Huntsville Track Club I am an ambassador to the sport of running every day. In addition, I direct the 10k Training Group "Next Steps" for Fleet Feet and I volunteer at a large number of races throughout the year.
