2012 Fleet Feet Racing: Tim Pitt

Name: Timothy Pitt
Date of Birth: March 18, 1979
City: Arab, Alabama

Brief Biography

I started running in spring of 2006 to get fit and healthy. As my running grew I began to surround myself with other runners who taught me plenty about running. In the fall of 2008 I completed my first road marathon. 2011 was a really great year of running for me. I owe a lot of credit to the people who I train with. I am really excited about 2012!!

Short Term Goals

I am planning on shifting gears after Mountain Mist and getting back into 5K and 10K shape. I am hoping to set some new PRs in those distances.

Long Term Goals

I would like to have some good fun 50K runs this year. Maybe even break 5 hours again.

A fun fact others might not know

I am prior service Army. I spent three years after high school in the US Army as a Calvary Scout. Throwing hand grenades, shooting weapons, and driving a Humvee is a ton of fun!

How have you been an ambassador to the sport of running?

I enjoy running and what it has done for my life. This excitement is contagious and I try to spread it around to those I know. In 2011 I helped and encouraged friends and family to take up running and let it effect their lives in a positive way. Of those I know that were already running, I tried to fan the flame and encourage them to continue to challenge themselves. I also volunteered at several races in 2011. At the AMRDEC 5k, Liz Hurley 5k, and Xterra 15k I only volunteered and did not race. I also helped out at several fun run events at Fleet Feet Sports this year (Skirt Chaser and Tri 201 time trial).
